In 2010, PMD Construction extended our four bedroom home to create a new feature lounge, kitchen/family room and front porch; converted our loft space into a master bedroom, en-suite and dressing room; converted our carport into a garage; our garage into a utility room and our old kitchen into a wood-panelled home office. They renewed and extended our electrical systems, and installed new heating and fire alarm systems. At the end of our garden, they built a games room and hard-standing for a large shed and play area. They also created new patios and front drive with associated railings, installed a new fence and provided some landscaping. They undertook works to the existing property to accommodate the renovation, such as removing a chimney, providing new rainwater pipes and undertook internal/external decoration. They worked closely with our contractors who dealt with central sound/TV services, security systems and kitchen/wardrobe design and installation. We moved out of the house for only six months. Our remit to Paul Dyer was to create the "WOW" factor and he certainly did, as "WOW" is exactly what many of our friends and family say when they visit us!!
My husband Peter, and I, were very pleased with the project and the whole family loves our "new" house. Its success can principally be attributed to Paul Dyer's commitment to excellence and unwavering customer service. Paul really took on the task at hand and came up with some splendid ideas throughout the project, most of which we took on board. Although this meant that our particular project evolved substantially as it went along, PMD always provided us with a detailed cost analysis of changes prior to undertaking the work for our approval and never went over budget. The whole process was undertaken professionally and with good humour. Other features and benefits we experienced before, during and after the renovation process were:
- PMD provided a very detailed cost breakdown at bid stage, which was referred to throughout the project and used to create the stage payments. The original scope of works came in just under the original quoted price.
- PMD provided a paper contract setting out the terms and conditions of our agreement, including a provision for a retainer to be withheld by us until snagging has completed three months after project completion.
- PMD provided letter and example references and clients I could visit and talk to.
- PMD's employees provided a high level of workmanship and commitment, and were friendly and honest. They were also respectful to our neighbours.
- The subcontractors that Paul brought in (from electricians and plasterers to railing and patio specialists) also provided a high level of workmanship and commitment. Paul provided good standards of control and quality assurance over their work. He has an extensive network of subcontractors from which to draw expertise in many fields.
- When issues arose during the project, as they invariably do, PMD dealt positively to provide solutions and rectifications.
- PMD went the extra mile to ensure that our deadlines were met to move back into the house and that we were ready for Christmas.
